Ann Arbor to Build New Recycling Drop-Off Station Outside City

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Ann Arbor announced plans to build a new recycling drop-off center at Platt Road, south of the Swift Run Dog Park in Pittsfield Township, outside city. Consequently, the existing drop-off center at 2950 E. Ellsworth Road will be demolished.

The discussions about the proposed project is scheduled to be held during the Pittsfield Township Planning Commission meeting Thursday night, March 2. The residents are being invited to attend the meeting to submit their valuable feedback, the notice issued by the township said. The meeting will be held at 6.30 PM at the Pittsfield Township Administration Building, 6201 W. Michigan Ave.

As per proposal, the new drop-off station would be larger in size and will allow general public to recycle not only household recycling, but bulky items, scrap metal, furniture, yard waste, concrete, electronics and tires. The new location would offer enhanced recycling options and services to the larger Ann Arbor area residents.

According to city spokesperson Robert Keller, the final site design is still under preparation and has not been submitted for approval yet. The relocation has become necessary due to lack of opportunities for renovation and growth of services at the current site of the facility, he added.
