SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The West Hartford Public Works Department has announced reorganization of its recycling facilities as part of efforts to reorganize and upgrade them with latest technology.

Accordingly, the Yard Waste and Recycling Center will temporarily close to the public on 27th March, 2023 and will reopen for residential use on 5th April, 2023. Only residents will be able to use the Center when it reopens on April 5, 2023. Thereafter, the Center will be open Monday to Friday 8AM-3PM throughout the year. In addition, it will be open on Saturdays 7AM -12 noon from 8th April through 16th December, 2023.
The Recycling Center will stop accepting materials from contractors or commercial entities with effect from 27th March, said John Philips, Director of Public Works. Also, the residents will not be able to obtain vouchers in order to have their leaves dropped off by their contractors during this fall. The commercial operators can make use of other available options, including the new sites in Farmington and Bloomfield.
Supreme Forest, which had been operating The Yard Waste and Recycling Center, have not submitted a new bid. The operations at the Center will now be managed by Paine’s, who currently handles the town’s trash and recycling collection.
