Alliance to End Plastic Waste Released Playbook on Mechanical Recycling

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Singapore-headquartered The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) announced publication of its new playbook on mechanical recycling of mixed plastic waste.

A comprehensive set of guidelines for reintegrating mixed plastic scrap streams into the value chain is provided in the publication. It proposes recycling models that can be implemented in both rich and low-income countries. It explains how mixed plastic scrap can be recovered by mechanical recycling and transformed into valuable goods.

AEPW states that guaranteeing a steady supply of scrap feedstock is still a major concern. The strategies outlined in the playbook are feasible for small firms and low-income areas because they only call for minimal capital expenditures. Additionally, these investments could help the local economy by creating jobs.

AEPW's president and CEO, Jacob Duer, stated that addressing plastic pollution requires a complex, multistakeholder strategy. According to him, the playbook is meant to be crucial in educating stakeholders along the plastic value chain about the necessity of reducing plastic waste and creating a circular economy for plastics. Furthermore, it will encourage other organizations to replicate these solutions, he added.
