Westchester County to Host Community Events Through April


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Westchester County announced a series of community events throughout April 2024 in connection with Earth Month celebrations. The events are aimed at promoting responsible waste management, environmental awareness and sustainability practices among community members.

Peter McCartt, Director of Energy Conservation & Sustainability noted that the Earth Month events provides opportunities to recycle and to dispose of hazardous materials properly. Also, these events will also recognise those who have contributed significantly to the County’s environment.

A compost giveaway event is being organized at H-MRF on Sunday, April 14 9 AM to 2 PM, for which registration is required. Each registered resident will receive a bag of compost equivalent to about one 5-gallon pail. 

The Westchester County will host Eco Awards ceremony at Glen Island on Thursday, April 18 from 2.30 PM to 3.30 PM. The event will honor individuals and organizations for their dedicated environmental conservation efforts.

A Household Recycling Day (HRD) is scheduled to be held at FDR State Park onSaturday, April 20 9 AM to 3 PM, where residents could responsibly dispose of household items and learn about recycling practices. A similar HRD event will be held at Sprain Ridge Park onSaturday, April 27 9 AM to 3 PM.
