Waste Connections to Acquire Florida Express Environmental, Expanding Footprint in Central Florida

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Waste Connections, Inc. is reportedly preparing to acquire Florida Express Environmental, marking another strategic expansion of its operations across the state. The proposed transaction is expected to come under review by the Marion County Board of Commissioners during a scheduled meeting today.

If approved, the deal would further solidify Waste Connections’ growing footprint in Florida, following a series of recent acquisitions. Florida Express Environmental is recognized as one of Central Florida’s leading waste and recycling service providers, boasting the largest privately owned environmental service fleet in the Ocala region. The company manages both the United American Recycling facility and the Southside C&D Landfill, offering comprehensive waste collection and recycling services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients across Marion and Alachua counties.

This acquisition continues Waste Connections’ pattern of targeted growth in Florida’s waste management sector. The company recently finalized its purchase of Miami-based Great Waste, and in October 2024, it announced the completion or signing of multiple deals collectively representing about $300 million in annualized revenue.

Following the acquisition, Florida Express Environmental will retain its brand name while benefiting from Waste Connections’ advanced technology, expanded resources, and modernized equipment. The integration aims to enhance service quality and operational efficiency across the region, reinforcing Waste Connections’ position as a major player in Florida’s environmental services market.
