Union County to Host Free Scrap Metal Recycling Drop-Off Program


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Union County Board of Commissioners informed that the county’s free scrap metal recycling drop-off program will be continued during the month of October also.

The drop-off centers in Cranford and Rahway will accept scrap metal drop off on two days during the current month- Thursday, October 5th and on Saturday, October 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The residents are requested to bring their items to the centers located at Emergency Services Building, 151 Kenilworth Boulevard, Kenilworth and Rahway River Park (follow Park Drive, Rahway off St. Georges Avenue to service yard across from swimming pool).

This will be followed by two similar events in November. The Scrap Metal Events on Thursday, November 2nd and Saturday, November 18th will be the final events of the 2023 season.

The participants are requested to remain in their vehicles, while the materials are offloaded. The materials must be placed in trunk, cargo area or truck bed in such a way that it is easily accessible to the staff.

The accepted items include a wide variety of metal goods, from obsolete household appliances to air conditioners to dehumidifiers, metal gutters and pots and pans, and window frames.
