Union County to Hold Free Scrap Metal Recycling Events


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Union County Board of County Commissioners has announced the schedule of free scrap metal recycling events for June. Similar events will be held every month until November, the County press release stated.

The events will be run by the Bureau of Recycling and Planning and will be only for households. The events will be drive-through only and contact-free. Residents are required to arrive in a vehicle and remain in their vehicle while staff on site unloads the items. The items must be placed in the trunk or cargo hold in such a way that it can be accessed easily.

The scrap metal collection events will be held Thursday, June 1 and Saturday, June 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Cranford (Emergency Services Building, 151 Kenilworth Boulevard) and Rahway River Park (follow Park Drive, Rahway off St. Georges Avenue to service yard across from swimming pool).

Sergio Granados, Union County Commissioner Chairman noted that the scrap metal recycling program provides County residents with a free, convenient way to remove unwanted metal items from their house and yard. In addition, it will help to boost the community’s recycling rate.

The event will accept items such as metal appliances, fencing, gutters, kitchenware and much more.
