Tire Recycling Major to Establish its First U.S. Plant in Louisiana

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Europe-based tire recycling major, Life for Tyres Group Limited, announced plans to construct its new facility in Reserve. The $46 million processing facility will be the first U.S. facility of the company. The facility, named as L4T Louisiana LLC, will be located at the Port of South Louisiana's Globalplex site.

The facility will employ eco-friendly techniques to transform end-of-life tires into high-quality, sustainable commodities such as biofuel feedstock, recovered carbon black, and scrap steel. The company’s innovative tire recycling mechanism is predicted to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 90%, in comparison with traditional methods.

A total of 46 new job opportunities will be created, thus contributing to the local employment and economic growth.

According to company officials, the strategic investment is in line with its expansion strategy. Moreover, it demonstrates the company’s confidence in the potential U.S. tire recycling market. Louisiana was selected as the site for its first U.S. facility due to the state’s favourable business climate and its strategic location on the global supply chain map. The facility will contribute positively to the state’s oil and gas and petroleum chemical sectors, they said.
