TerraCycle Join Forces with Casella to Boost Recycling of Hard-to-Recycle Items

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Casella has joined forces with TerraCycle to launch a pilot recycling program that aims to boost recycling of hard-to-recycle materials. The partnership is similar to the one offered to Vermont households and businesses and will begin initially in and around Burlington. If successful, the partnership hopes to expand the service to other areas as well.

The program will recycle around 20 categories of common household items, including corks, coffee capsules, plastic packaging and cosmetics packaging, that are normally unaccepted in curbside recycling bins with the help of TerraCycle Pouch by Casella.

The materials will be picked up from the doorstep and will be recycled by TerraCycle. The company manually and automatically sorts the materials, which are then recycled into raw formats. These raw materials are used to produce new products, including benches that are donated back to the community.

The subscription cost of the program ranges between $10 and $250. The customer is required to choose the subscription package as per their requirement. The TerraCycle Pouch, once filled with hard-to-recycle items, must be sealed and placed at doorsteps. The customer must scan the QR code or log into account to schedule a pickup by Casella to be delivered to TerraCycle for recycling.
