Simcoe County Announced New Waste Collection Zones

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Simcoe County’s curbside waste collection schedule is set to adjust to new zones with effect from the week beginning 4th December, 2023. Residents are required to keep a watch on the Simcoe County Collects app, County website and direct communications issued by the County.

The households in Zone 2 will skip a garbage collection week during the week of Dec. 4, 2023. They, in turn, will receive two consecutive weeks of recycling collection. As per schedule, week of Nov.27 and Dec.4 will be for recycling and organics collection. Garbage and organics collection is scheduled for the week of Dec 11, followed by recycling collection in week of Dec 18 and garbage collection in week of Dec. 25.

There will be no impact on households in Zone 1, as the waste collection days of the week will remain the same. Alerts will be sent to all residents who subscribe to the app, said County press release.

The collection carts will collect only the correct carts for the zone. The new cart collection scheme for Zone 2 residents is further to the Ontario government’s implementation of new producer responsibility legislation, which makes it necessary for cart collection trucks to visit two drop-off/transfer stations- one for organics and one for recycling.
