Republic Services Partnered with Ravago to Advance Plastic Recycling Capacity

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Republic Services announced that it has partnered with leading polymer recycling company Ravago to boost circularity in plastics industry. The two companies have agreed upon creating an innovative partnership called Blue Polymers to build plastic recycling facilities.

The partnership will develop a chain of facilities that will produce post-consumer recycled products, which in turn will be supplied to plastic manufactures to be used in the manufacturing process. It will process recycled polyethylene and polypropylene to produce recycled resin. The sustainable materials thus produced could be used in food-grade as well as non-food-grade applications.

The partnership will open four Blue Polymers facilities over the period of next four years, with first facility slated to commence operations by late next year. These facilities will have a combined annual production capacity of 300 million pounds of recycled plastics.

The partnership will also market and distribute rPET flake from Republic's Polymer Centers through Ravago’s network of customers.

Jon Vander Ark, president and chief executive officer, Republic Services noted that the creation of Blue Polymers provides it with an opportunity to meet the rising demand for high-quality recycled plastics. The partnership with Ravago marks the next step in advancing plastics circularity, he added.
