SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): NuCycle Energy, located in 2067 S. County Line Road, Plant City, FL, has helped to give renewed life to old election signs. It must be noted that these materials used to end up in landfills before, as the polypropylene content in them made them difficult to recycle.

The company collects old election signs along with usual materials such as cardboard, plastic and Styrofoam. The materials thus collected are sorted, mixed and condensed to be transformed into a clean, renewable fuel product called Enviro Fuel cubes, which can be used as replacement for coal and other heavy fossil fuels. It must be noted that the company has so far collected approximately 30,000 signs.
According to Kyle Pukylo, Director of Sales and Procurement at NuCycle Energy, it helps companies divert waste from landfills, by using the waste to manufacture a fuel that replaces the use of coal. The Enviro fuel cubes manufactured by the company are mainly consumed by cement manufacturers, power manufacturers and utility sector clients.
The company has already entered into partnerships with various counties, including Sarasota, Manatee and Orange. It is expected to expand its partnerships with more Florida counties in the near term.
