Newton Recycling Stations Provide 24/7 Access to Residents

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Newton sanitary services announced that two of its recycling centres are now open for public all day long. The 24/7 recycling stations are located at Northside Park, 506 East 22nd St. and Orange Public Parking Lot, 210 North Ashe Ave. Also, the City plans to open three additional recycling stations by the beginning of next month.

The recycling stations will accept a wide range of materials including plastic bottles, tubs, jugs, and jars, metal cans, glass bottles and jars and paper. The residents need to empty and rinse plastic, metal and glass items before depositing in the containers. However, the items may contain labels and need not be sorted.

The only exception is flattened cardboard, which must be separately deposited in cardboard containers placed near to recycling containers. No other materials except the above may be deposited in the containers, as it may impact efficiency of sorting facilities.

With regards to old recycling bin, the City announced that the residents will be allowed to keep their recycling bin. Also, they may be placed curbside on assigned regular garbage collection days. Meantime, the operations of curbside garbage collection will continue as usual.
