SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): This summer, the City of Pensacola plans to reinstate curbside recycling. In addition, on July 1st, the new garbage collection fees will be implemented.
On May 22, 2025, the City Council unanimously adopted the revised prices. On June 12, the Council is expected to hold its final vote. The increased charges will take effect in July if they are authorized. Commercial clients will be billed at a different rate for the first time. The rate charged to residential users will be doubled.

A $260,000 donation from the non-profit The Recycling Partnership allowed city dwellers to resume curbside recycling services.
Customers currently pay $27.44 for a single trash can that is picked up twice a week. The charge will be $24.99 under the new rate structure, and pickup will only occur once a week. Additionally, for an extra $8 a month, clients will be able to add recycling or a second garbage can. In the meanwhile, commercial property owners will pay at least $22.54 more each month for basic garbage pickup service.
The $5.12 monthly cost for sanitary equipment will not change under the proposal. Additionally, beyond 2027, waste charges may continue to rise annually.
