SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The partnership program, “Shop, Recycle, Repeat”, between Eastman and Food City has unveiled a new plastics recycling bin in Kingsport on Wednesday. This is the first of three such recycling bins, aimed at collecting plastics for recycling.
The first bin was placed at the Food City store on Eastman Road. The program will soon place additional two bins at Food City stores across Kingsport. Furthermore, it will expand to more locations in the region during the course of the year.

The bins are being installed, as the area no longer offers curbside recycling pickup services to residents.
According to news release, the bin will accept difficult-to-recycle plastics such as colored laundry detergent bottles, clamshell fruit packaging, polyester fabrics and shampoo bottles. All the collected plastic will be sorted and processed at Eastman’s mixed plastics processing facility.
Eastman noted that its partnership with Food City will help bolster its efforts to advance the circular economy by reducing the environmental impacts of plastic waste. The partnership aims to provide public with convenient and accessible recycling options to drop off plastics, thereby diverting plastic waste from ending up in landfills or being incinerated.
