City of Rockford Rolls Out New Garbage and Recycling Carts

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Rockford will roll out new garbage and recycling carts to its residents this week. The residents will receive a 96-gallon refuse cart and a 65-gallon recycling cart.

The new carts features several upgrades. It has two wheels, in order to ensure easier handling. Both the carts will have lids, thus preventing escape of loose items from them. Also, the recycling cart offers more space, thus boosting recycling participation. They are designed in such a way that they can be lifted mechanically by garbage trucks.

The delivery of the carts will commence today, with complete delivery expected to be completed within a period of up to three months.

The resident would be able to place all the recyclable materials directly into the new recycling carts. These carts will serve as a replacement for the smaller blue bins that are currently used for residential recycling.

The items that could be placed in carts include glass bottles and jars, aluminum and steel cans, food and beverage cartons, paper products as well as clean, empty plastic bottles and containers. However, plastic bags, paper towels, pizza boxes, electrical equipment, batteries, and clothing should not be put in carts.

The residents can keep their old bins and use them for placing extra recyclables or for other household uses.
