SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of New Bedford has launched a new Swap Shop at the New Bedford Recycling Center This offers residents an easy way to donate and pick up reusable household items free of charge. The initiative is aimed at reducing waste and encouraging reuse of products.
The Swap Shop, located at 1103 Shawmut Avenue, will accept gently used books, tableware such as dishes and silverware, cookware, and bakeware including pots, pans, and baking sheets. Meamwhile, it will not accept electronic devices and household appliances, including microwaves, toasters, and other plug-in items.

Residents can donate up to three items per day, but all donations must first be inspected and approved by a Recycling Center attendant. Items must be clean, fully functional, and in good condition. City officials reserve the right to reject any donation that does not meet the prescribed standards.
All approved items are available free of charge to New Bedford residents. Participants are required to provide proof of residency.
The facility follows the same operating schedule as the New Bedford Recycling Center. It will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
