SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of New Bedford has introduced a new Swap Shop at the New Bedford Recycling Center, giving local residents an easy way to exchange reusable household items at no cost.
Located at 1103 Shawmut Avenue, the Swap Shop allows residents to donate selected pre-owned items and take home other useful goods for free. Participation is limited to New Bedford residents.

The facility currently accepts gently used books, dishes, silverware, cookware, pots, pans, baking trays, and similar kitchen items. However, electrical products and household appliances, including microwaves, toasters, and other plug-in devices, cannot be donated.
Residents can donate up to three items per day, but every item must first be inspected and approved by Recycling Center staff. Donations should be clean, fully functional, and in a condition suitable for another person to use. The city has all the rights to reject any item that does not meet its standards.
The Swap Shop follows the Recycling Center's regular operating schedule throughout the year, opening on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
