MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Montville Township in New Jersey will hold a combined document shredding and electronics recycling event on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The collection will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Municipal Building parking lot, 195 Changebridge Road, Montville, NJ 07045. Proof of residency is required.
The township's notice refers to both residents and business owners when describing the shredding limit. Participants may bring a maximum of 10 boxes per vehicle.
Computers, Televisions and Small Appliances Accepted
The electronics collection will accept computers, servers, monitors, printers, keyboards, microphones, webcams, VCR and DVD players, cell phones, batteries, terminals, cables, wires, power supplies, fax machines, radios, modems, CRTs, telephones, answering machines, televisions, copiers, scanners, audio and video equipment, typewriters, microwaves, toaster ovens and air conditioners.
Household alkaline batteries, mercury-containing devices such as thermostats, medical devices and thermometers, household hazardous waste, materials containing liquids, radioactive materials and PCB-containing materials will not be accepted.
Scavenged CRT televisions and monitors with broken glass or damaged housings are also excluded, along with CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes and light bulbs.
Paper Shredding Limited to 10 Boxes Per Vehicle
The on-site shredding service will accept financial and legal records, receipts, tax documents and medical records. Spiral notebooks, three-ring binders, hard metal and plastic materials are prohibited.
The township's posted instructions contain conflicting guidance concerning paper clips. The notice states that papers containing staples, paper clips and small butterfly clips are acceptable, but it also separately instructs participants to remove rubber bands and paper clips before materials are shredded.
Plastic bags and cartons used to transport documents will be returned to participants rather than shredded.
Prescription Medication Drop-Off Also Available
The Morris County Sheriff's Office will provide a prescription medication drop-off during the event.
