City of Owasso Announces Free Cleanup and Recycling Events

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Owasso, Oklahoma, will host two community cleanup events this September to help residents dispose of unwanted household items and recycle materials responsibly.

The first event, Free Landfill Day, is scheduled for September 19 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Waste Management-Quarry Landfill on East 46th Street North. The service is limited to eligible Owasso residents. Participants must show a current city utility bill and government-issued identification displaying an Owasso address. The event will not accept tires, hazardous materials, liquids and appliances containing Freon.

A second event will take place September 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Tulsa Tech–Owasso Campus. Unlike the landfill program, the Household Collection and Recycling Event is open to everyone, regardless of where they live.

Residents can bring up to 10 tires, automotive and household batteries, computers, printers, electronics and small appliances weighing less than 50 pounds. Fees will apply to certain monitors and televisions.

The collection and recycling event will accept plastic and paper grocery bags, flattened cardboard, fire extinguishers, medications and properly contained sharps. Also, Paper shredding will be available for up to four file boxes per vehicle.

Additionally, the event will also accept pistol, rifle and shotgun ammunition, officials said.
