Mobile, Alabama Opened New Recycling Center


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Mobile announced opening of a new recycling center, the third in the City after the ones located at 4851 Museum Drive and 308 Pinehill Drive.

According to news release by the City of Mobile Public Works, the new center, called “Parkway Recycling Center on the Peninsula”, was officially opened on April 15th, 2024. The new recycling center is expected to make recycling easier and more accessible to community members. The construction of the facility was funded through a grant from the Recycling Partnership.

Mayor Sandy Stimpson noted that the setting up of the new drop-off location is part of efforts by the administration to expand city’s recycling.

The new facility will be open Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 7 AM to 4 PM. Only residents of Mobile will be permitted to use the facility, by providing proof of residence. Recyclables from businesses and those residing outside Mobile will not be accepted.

The recycling center will not accept glass, Styrofoam, bows, gift bags with bows, plastics etc., plastic bags, aerosol cans, garden hoses, construction materials, food waste, beddings or linens, juice boxes, window blinds, tarps, bubble wrap, plastic and metal hangers and most wrapping paper.
