Massive Fire Destroyed Buildings at Recycling Plant

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): A fire at Green Group Processing, a recycling plant located at 24104 755th Ave., north of Alberta Lea has reportedly destroyed two out of three buildings in full, thus ending in total loss.

As per reports, the fire is believed to have started at 4 AM Sunday morning. A report was received by dispatchers at 4.10 AM, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office. The firefighters from every department in Freeborn County responded to the fire. Also, Clarks Grove Fire Department along with all county fire departments as well as the Ellendale Department were dispatched.

The firefighters were on sight, fighting the devastating fire, for almost six hours. Water was filled from various nearby locations, including hydrants near Crossroads Church, the Freeborn County Highway Shop and Kwik Trip. A few firefighters were reportedly remaining at the scene of fire, as of Sunday afternoon.

An investigation has been ordered by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, however the cause has not yet been identified. The Sheriff’s Office is also in touch with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to determine potential pollution caused by spraying of water.

As per company website, Green Group Reprocessing produces the highest quality PCR homopolymer polypropylene resin, specializing in recycling post-consumer baling twine into a high quality plastic pellet.
