Los Angeles to Host Free Hazardous Waste and Shredding Event on March 28


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Residents of Los Angeles will have the opportunity to safely dispose of household hazardous waste and confidential documents at a free community cleanup and recycling event scheduled for March 28, 2026, in South Los Angeles.

The drive-through event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3800 South Crenshaw Boulevard, in front of the Los Angeles Sentinel office. Secure paper shredding services will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing residents with a convenient option to protect sensitive information.

Open to residents of both the city and county, the event will accept a wide range of materials, including used oil, oil filters, tires, electronic waste, paints, pesticides, batteries, and fluorescent bulbs. However, items such as ammunition, medical waste, construction debris, and bulky items will not be accepted.

Councilwoman Heather Hutt emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting environmental safety and proper waste disposal. Participants are limited to two 33-gallon bags for shredding and up to nine tires per trip, with all materials required to be securely transported.

The event is organized with support from Los Angeles Sanitation, Public Works, and Shred-it, as part of broader efforts to maintain clean and sustainable communities.
