Lock Haven City Council Urges Residents to Recycle More

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania urged its residents to recycle more, so as to take best advantage of the recycling agreement with the Wayne Township Landfill (WTL).

The agreement calls for a rebate payable to the City if the recycling tonnage of 2023 exceeds that of 2021. Accordingly, the city got a rebate of $2,982 towards recycling additional 28 tonnes during the year. Incidentally, the City spends about $38,000 towards running curbside recycling services.

According to Jay Alexander, General Manager, WTL, the residents need to actively participate in the free curbside pickup offered by it. They are encouraged to pick their free recycling bin from City Hall, 20 E. Church St., Lock Haven. The curbside recycling must be placed in the Green Bin by 7 AM on the day of scheduled pickup.

The Zone 1 collection day will be on Friday, whereas that for Zone 2 and Zone 3 will be Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

The accepted items include newspaper, paperboard, mixed paper, plastics #1-7, and aluminum/tin food and beverage containers. However, plastic bags, glass, motor oil, wax coated juice/food boxes, laminated paper, tissue paper and wet/dirty newspaper should not be placed in bins.
