Little Rock Announced Opening of New Recycling Drop-Off Location

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Little Rock announced opening of a new recycling drop-off location. The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Green Station at Asher Avenue, 2000 South Thayer St. was held Monday. The center will accept a wide range of materials not accepted by curbside pickup, including electronics, household hazardous waste, plastic grocery bags, empty glass bottles and jars.

Addressing the ceremony, Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. expressed the hope that Little Rock will lead the charge in sustainability efforts. The city eyes to improve its recycling rate by 15% by the end of the current decade. According to the previously announced sustainability plan, the city targets to reach 100% clean energy by 2030.

The recycling station has already become operational. The working hours are 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. -5 p.m. the last Saturday of each month. A special team will be formulated to work for additional hours, so as to accept recycling out of normal business hours.

The city had operated a similar drop-off station off Kanis Road, but was closed in November 2022 following dumping of too many non-recyclable items. Furthermore, the center was not centrally located in the city.
