Liberty Tire Recycling and Walmart Honored with 2025 Recircle Circular Economy Award

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Walmart and Liberty Tire Recycling's partnership was recognized with the 2025 Recircle "Circular Economy Award." The prize honors the two businesses' creative circular system for collecting and recycling tires at the end of their useful lives in order to create new consumer goods.

For over 20 years, the two businesses have collaborated on a number of environmental projects, such as gathering used tires from different Walmart stores. Nearly six years ago, Liberty started producing consumer goods from recycled tires and reselling them through Walmart's retail channels as a significant extension of their relationship.

A variety of recycled rubber products, such as patio tiles, garden edging, rubber mulch, and other lawn and garden supplies, are currently available at Walmart locations. With an approximate recovery rate of 81.1%, Liberty Tires is estimated to gather over 215 million worn tires annually. The business is still constantly looking for new uses for recycled rubber.

According to Liberty Tire Recycling's Senior Vice President of Sustainability, Amy Brackin, the partnership with Walmart has produced a genuinely circular model that keeps millions of tires out of landfills by turning them into valuable items.

The Recircle Awards recognize excellence in sustainable practices within the tire and rubber industry.
