Tippecanoe County to Partner with Corn County CrossFit to Host Tire Recycling Event

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster):  Tire recycling activities will be held by the Tippecanoe County Recycling & Solid Waste District in collaboration with Corn Country CrossFit, which is situated at 2219 N. Ninth St.

In 2025 and 2026, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will hold two tire recycling events with funds totaling $20,000, according to Kern Darbyshire, recycling educator for the Tippecanoe County Recycling & Solid Waste District.

The first of the two events will take place on Saturday, May 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tippecanoe County Amphitheater Park. All citizens of Tippecanoe County are welcome to attend the free event. To participate in the event, residents must have a legitimate proof of residency.

Only passenger tire cars are permitted at the event, said the County news release. No off-road or farm tires will be accepted at the event. Additionally, tires longer than 36 inches won't be allowed.

Each household will be limited to four tires. Metal or rims won't be allowed. There will be no more than 2,000 tires allowed during the event. The event will conclude early if that number is reached before its planned conclusion.
