SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Residents of Cedar Grove will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted electronics during Essex County Computer & Electronics Recycling Day scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Essex County Public Works Facility and is open free of charge to all residents of Essex County. Participants are required to provide proof of residency at the site.

The initiative aims to promote responsible recycling and reduce environmental harm caused by improper disposal of electronic waste. Officials highlighted that recycling helps keep hazardous materials such as lead and other toxins out of landfills.

A wide range of items will be accepted, including computers, monitors, printers, scanners, televisions, keyboards, VCRs, stereos, DVD players, small household appliances, and old cellular phones. However, organizers clarified that smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms will not be accepted.

Commercial entities and residents with large quantities of items are not permitted to participate. To ensure efficiency, attendees must remain in their vehicles, with items placed in the trunk for easy removal by staff.
