Franklin Township to Host E-Waste Recycling Day on May 16 in Moreland

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Franklin Township will host its annual E-waste and Appliance Collection Day on May 16, offering residents a convenient and eco-friendly way to dispose of unwanted electronics. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Franklin Township House on Moreland Road.

Organized by the Moreland Community Historical Society in partnership with Franklin Township Trustees, the initiative marks its 10th year of promoting responsible recycling practices. With rapid technological advancements leading to shorter product lifecycles, e-waste has become a growing environmental concern due to its potential health and ecological risks when sent to landfills.

Residents can drop off a wide range of items, including computers, laptops, mobile devices, televisions, batteries, household appliances, power tools and scrap metal. Fees will apply for certain items such as CRT televisions and monitors. Organizers emphasized that most items powered by electricity or batteries will be accepted.

Event proceeds will support the Moreland Community Historical Society’s programs. Officials say the initiative not only helps reduce environmental impact but also serves as a way to give back to the community.

Township trustees will also attend the event to engage with residents and distribute safety-related materials funded through community grants.
