EQT in Talks to Acquire Majority Stake in Waga Energy

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): According to reports, EQT, a top equity investor, is in negotiations to buy the bulk of RNG giant Waga Energy. The deal is anticipated to close in the second half of this year, pending the required regulatory clearances.

According to rumors, EQT intends to pay 21.55 euros per share to purchase 54.1% of Waga Energy's outstanding shares. It also intends to purchase 65.9% of the business's voting shares.

According to EQT, the agreement would strengthen Waga's standing as a supplier of renewable natural gas and hasten its expansion. In addition to concentrating on its primary markets of small and medium-sized dump sites, Waga will be able to compete in larger markets with the financial support of EQT.

It should be mentioned that throughout the previous 15 years, EQT has made investments in a number of energy transition infrastructure projects. Its most recent acquisitions were a majority investment in the garbage and recycling software business AMCS last year and a controlling stake in Heritage Environmental Services in 2023.

Waga Energy said in a news release that the proposed deal has been approved by its board of directors. The business stated that it has engaged a third-party specialist to review the proposal.
