SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Elkhart County Commissioners discussed an incentivization program, by which residents who sign in newly to the curbside recycling program could receive a one-time incentive of $25. It is mandatory that the residents need to recycle through a qualified and city-approved recycling hauler, in order to be eligible for the above incentive.

The scheme is open for individuals, associations, firms, businesses, multi-use housing, and others, including those within Goshen and Elkhart municipalities where businesses have no access to city-funded recycling programs.
The new recycling incentive program is considered as an alternative to the recently eliminated drop-off locations, subsequent to residents littering them with trash. It must be noted that increased contamination of drop-off recycling sites with garbage, has forced the County to close several of such sites.
Commenting on the recycling program, Commissioner Suzie Weirick said that the new curbside recycling program aims to support and replace the loss of recycling drop-off sites across the county. The County has decided to go with a new option, in order to ensure recycling of materials and reduction of landfill additions, Weirick added.
