Electronic recycling events coming up in Stevens Point, town of Amherst

Two e-cycling events are coming up in Portage Co., just in time for spring cleaning.

  • May 20, 8 a.m. to noon, Ben Franklin Jr. High, 2000 Polk St., Stevens Point

Operated by volunteer school staff, parents, and students in partnership with Express Recycling. Proceeds benefit the school’s food pantry, lunch composting program, and a future outdoor classroom. No appointment is necessary.

  • June 1, 3-6 p.m., Amherst Town Hall, 4023 County Q, town of Amherst

Operated by the Portage Co. Solid Waste Department. The “drive-thru” event will be held at the Town of Amherst Town Hall on Thursday, June 1st from 3 pm to 6 pm. Due to a grant, the department can offset down of the costs associated with electronic recycling. The cost is $20 per vehicle with up to 20 items each.

The event is available for residents of Portage County only. Non-residents will be turned away.

Residents need to enter the parking/event area off Hwy Q from the south and exit to the north. Signs will be posted. Department workers will be onsite to unload each resident’s vehicle.

Exact change or have checks prewritten out to Portage County Solid Waste will be taken. Credit or debit cards will not be accepted.
