SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The volunteers with the Delta County Recycling Program have initiated efforts to educate residents about local recycling efforts undertaken by the county.
The Delta County has partnered with the Marquette County Waste Management Authority, which has recently announced a $6 million renovation of its recycling program. The partnership has helped Delta County to accept more materials, thus recording significant improvement from the past.

The County accepts a wide range of materials for recycling, including plastic bottles, cardboard and different types of boxes. The automated system makes only certain kinds of plastic bags acceptable. For instance, plastic grocery bags cannot be recycled. The volunteers urged residents to dispose of them in other receptacles or donate them to local businesses, which run plastic bag recycling programs.
Delta County landfills receive around four tons of recyclable materials every week. A better awareness on recycling program will help reduce the volume of waste produced and dumped in landfills.
The County will further boost its efforts to educate local residents on proper recycling practices.
