SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners approved expansion of the existing curbside recycling services to its easternmost end. The proposal was approved by a unanimous vote. There has been no cost to the county to expand the service.
The current curbside recycling by the county’s Solid Waste Utility Department covers all of unincorporated Lewis County from Pe Ell to Morton. The passing of the new ordinance will result in expansion of curbside trash and recycling services by LeMay to Randle, Glenoma and Packwood. It must be noted that garbage-only collection is in place throughout the County.
According to press release by the Solid Waste Utility Department, the participation in the collection program is completely voluntary. Bins of two sizes-65 gallons and 95 gallons will be available for customers, who can either sign up for a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedule. The new services are expected to begin in the east end in late March or early April this year.
The monthly cost for weekly pick up of trash and bi-weekly recycling will come to almost $30 to $32, whereas that for bi-weekly pickup for both trash and recycling will be around $20 to $23.
