SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Waste Management of Dunmore and the City of Scranton have signed a new recycling process agreement. The goal of the new contract, which will take effect the week of July 7, 2025, is to give people greater convenience while lowering expenses. The Scranton City Council voted 5-0 on Tuesday to accept the contract, which will be in effect for five years.
By keeping materials processing local, the recently proposed recycling contract will enable it to benefit from a regional market rate for recycled items. According to the City, the price of mixed plastic, glass, and metal will be limited to "no more than $96.65 per ton."

From now on, mixed paper and corrugated cardboard will be collected together every other week. Additionally, by beginning to accept #5 plastics, the city will broaden the range of products that citizens can recycle in commingled blue bins. It advocates for fewer days for recycling collections that exclusively include paper and more frequent pickups of cardboard recycling.
The recycling modifications, according to Mayor Cognetti, are a part of the city's continuous efforts to make the neighborhood healthier for its kids and neighbors. A healthier community might result from the little adjustments made at each home, he continued.
