City of Port Angeles to Resume Glass Recycling

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Port Angeles, Washington State announced resumption of glass recycling services. The official announcement by the City says that glass recycling services has already commenced at the Port Angeles Regional Transfer Station and Blue Mountain Transfer Station with effect from Saturday, June 28, 2025. Both the above facilities will accept glass for recycling.

In October of last year, the City temporarily halted glass recycling services after its designated glass processor declared that it would no longer be receiving the material due to shifts in the recovered glass market. The City has been looking on long-term ways to help glass recycling services ever since.

The recently announced recycling program is being introduced in collaboration with Sibelco, a top glass recycler in Seattle, Washington.

To prevent glass from becoming mingled with other recyclables, the city will utilize distinct glass recycling bins. The City's main goal in doing this is to lessen contamination. Furthermore, it will result in materials being processed efficiently, which will significantly lower processing costs.

After being crushed into cullets at the Sibelco factory, the collected glass will be shipped to a recycling facility in Portland, Oregon, for additional processing.

The City asked citizens to make sure the glass they bring to the designated drop-off places is dry, clean, and empty.
