SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Pensacola, Florida announced that it has reinstated opt-in curbside recycling program, in collaboration with The Recycling Partnership. This demonstrates the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible waste management.
City Sanitation customers' recyclable materials will no longer be processed at ECUA's Materials Recycling Facility, and citywide curbside recycling for City Sanitation customers will be discontinued, the City announced in a document dated August 2023. The city had pledged at the time to keep up its proactive efforts to find a workable recycling solution, which included curbside recycling services that people might choose to use.
By informing locals on what can and cannot be recycled, the new program will concentrate on improving education and outreach. Additionally, it will provide better infrastructure for recycling to reduce pollution. In order to help create a cleaner, greener Pensacola, the program also seeks to motivate locals to become involved.
The monthly fee for curbside recycling will be $32.99 for once-weekly garbage and recycling collection for individuals who choose to use this service. It is anticipated that the recycling carts will be made available to consumers the week of July 7.
