City of Madison Urges Residents to Recycle Electronics

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Madison has urged its residents to ensure that they safely recycle their old televisions, computers and other electronic items by depositing them with the Street Division’s network of drop-off sites. By doing so, they could be assured that these items are responsibly recycled, alongside playing a key role in protecting the environment.

It must be noted that televisions, computers, printers and other common electronic devices are banned from Wisconsin landfills. Instead, they are accepted at various drop-off sites and private e-waste recycler sites. These sites accept electronics from residents at no cost. In addition to various electronic items, the drop-off sites also accept Christmas tree lights, vacuums, stereo equipment, kitchen appliances, hair dryers and household batteries. The city urged residents not to place electronics items at the curb.

The drop-off sites do not accept electronic items from businesses or contractors.

The residents and property owners are allowed to bring the equivalent of one pick-up or small trailer load of material each day. This load limit is applicable to all materials accepted at the drop-off sites. Also, proof of residency or property ownership is required to use the drop-off sites.
