SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Boone County Solid Waste Committee announced its decision to indefinitely suspend the City of Ashland, Missouri’s recycling program. Consequently, the County has removed its sole recycling container located on Red Tail Drive last week.
The recent facebook post, announcing the suspension, noted that residents are seen throwing recyclable materials into the dumb along with trash and other solid waste. The recycling has been excessively mixed with contaminants. As a result, the County has decided not to return the bin to the recycling lot.

Meantime, the County informed that it will take necessary action to address the signage on the containers and work with the City to get the bins returned to the recycling lot at the earliest. However, it refused to announce any timeline for the return. The City plans to keep new signage at the lot over the coming weeks. Furthermore, it will post educational materials for residents at its facebook page and website, in an attempt to reduce the trash being dumped into the recycling lot.
As per City website, the acceptable recycling materials include newspaper, tin cans, aluminum, plastic and cardboard.
