Casella Unfolds Significant Growth Plans for Mid-Atlantic

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The acquisition of GFL Environmental’s assets last year has resulted in Casella Waste System’s expansion from Northeast into the mid-Atlantic. The Vermont-based company’s growth plans are currently focussed in that region.

The growth plans for the region include pilot programs for PFAS mitigation, several RNG projects as well as reconfiguration of its landfill capacity. In addition to the plans to launch a new mechanic training program, it also announced plans to make investments in major equipment upgrades. The company eyes organic growth, inorganic acquisitions and increased operational efficiencies in the region.

Explaining the priorities for expansion in the region, Ned Coletta, President noted that the company sees the acquisition of GFL’s assets as a huge platform for growth. Although the company’s M&A plans are mainly focused on traditional Northeastern markets, it now includes mid-Atlantic region as well.

Coletta commended the federal government for its recently announced PFAS regulatory updates. He promised that the company will do everything possible to get leachate treated, thus ensuring environmental health. The RNG project in partnership with BP, Archaea Juniper Ridge landfill is expected to become online soon, subject to receipt of necessary certifications.
