Calhoun County to Host Two Recycling Events This Month

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Calhoun County announced that its Solid Waste Program will host couple of free recycling events for its residents during the month of October this year. Both the events will accept residential materials only.

A scrap tire collection event is scheduled to take place this Monday, October 9, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Tekonsha Village Offices on North Church Street. The event is limited to household and residential scrap tires. It will accept passenger vehicle tires, with a limit of 10 scrap tires per vehicle. However, no business or farm tires will be accepted. Also, no tires larger than semi-truck tires will be accepted. The collection event is being funded by an EGLE Scrap Tire Cleanup Grant.

In addition, it will also host a household hazardous waste collection event, which will be held at Bailey Park (lot south of CO Brown Stadium) in Battle Creek on Monday, October 16, from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

The event will accept all common household hazardous waste, except latex paint, school chemical, biologically active materials, home-use insulation spraying cylinders, ammunitions, weapons, explosives and radioactive materials.

The participants of both the above collection events are requested to stay inside their vehicles, while the materials are offloaded.
