Colorado EPR Adds 13 Recycling Facilities, Reaches 400,000 Households
Circular Action Alliance expands Colorado's packaging and paper recycling network, adding processing facilities and extending producer-funded residential recycling services.
MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Circular Action Alliance Colorado (CAA Colorado) has added 13 recycling processing facilities to the state's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program for packaging and paper products, expanding collection and processing infrastructure across Colorado.
According to CAA Colorado's October 22 announcement, participating facilities have a combined annual processing capacity exceeding 200,000 tons. The latest collection agreements also extend access to producer-funded, no-cost residential recycling services to more than 400,000 households.
New Agreements Expand Colorado's Recycling Network
Recent agreements involve Apex Waste Solutions, the City of Thornton, Ranch Creek Waste and WM of Colorado.
Earlier partnerships extended program coverage to communities including Cortez, Dolores and Oak Creek.
The expansion supports Colorado's EPR program, which shifts eligible packaging and paper recycling costs to producers while developing a more consistent statewide collection and processing network.
Recycling Service Rollout Will Vary by Community
CAA Colorado Executive Director Juri Freeman said additional partnerships with collectors and processors will help advance the program's implementation.
However, new recycling services will not begin simultaneously across all participating communities. Implementation schedules depend on local providers and service arrangements.
Residents are advised to contact their local recycling provider to confirm when producer-funded recycling services will become available in their area.
