Austin Resource Recovery to Build a Central Hub for Trash

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Austin Resource Recovery announced plans to create a central hub where the city’s trash will be managed before they are sent to disposal sites out of the town.

The proposed transfer station will help the city to offer improved services and reduce emissions caused by disposal trucks.

However, the final location of the hub is yet to be finalized.

Furthermore, it is unclear how the costs of establishing up a facility will be covered. In order to make the hub consistently accessible from all directions, the authorities intend to locate it closer to the center of the city. There will be fewer trucks since the hub's sanitation staff will transfer the loads to larger vehicles.

At the moment, drivers must go great distances to empty out at landfills or composting sites since the collection trucks fill up on their routes. Drivers will be able to get back to their routes more quickly.

According to Austin Resource Recovery Director Richard McHale, the proposed center will be entirely enclosed, and waste will be picked up every day. He went on to say that it would just be a transfer station and not a final disposal facility.

In the meanwhile, it is anticipated that the proposed facility will raise the price of compost and city trash collection.
