The Office of Sustainability is announcing a full slate of events during Earth Week 2023.
As part of this year’s activities, faculty, staff and students are invited to recycle personally owned electronics from 9 a..m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday (April 19) at one of two locations:
Reynolds Hall loading dock
Student Rec Center (lower gym entering from the side door near parking Area 49)
Acceptable electronics include computers, laptops, printers, toner and inkjet cartridges, cell phones, cables and wires, etc. Note: No televisions, lamps, vacuums or appliances/white goods will be accepted.
Additional Earth Week activities will be hosted by various departments and units across WVU.
Monday, April 17
WVU Dining Services Earth Day Menus – To celebrate Earth Day, WVU Dining Services chefs have curated unique, plant-based menus that will be served during breakfast, lunch and dinner at each dining hall.
Tuesday, April 18
Make It, Take It Seed Planting Kit – Stop by the Downtown Campus Refresh location to make a free seed planting kit to take home and grow. Themed kits include: grow pizza — basil, chive, oregano and tomato seeds, grow salsa — cilantro, chive, jalapeno and tomato seeds and grow a salad — carrot, cucumber, kale and lettuce seeds.
Wednesday, April 19
Free Electronics Recycling Day – The entire campus community is encouraged to recycle personally owned electronics at one of the two campus locations, details above.
Thursday, April 20
Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony – Join the WVU Tree Campus committee as a new tree is planted on the WVU Downtown Campus, and learn more about what this group is doing to protect and care for current trees and increase tree diversity on campus.
Friday, April 21
Campus Litter Cleanup Effort – Join the WVU Sustainability team to show your Mountaineer pride by making our campus shine. All materials will be provided. Sign up on iServe.
The WVU Department of Biology is proud to offer free annual spring ephemeral wildflower walks at the WVU Core Arboretum. The walks are typically two-hour guided tours inside the Arboretum that take place on all Sundays in April. Tours will be given at noon, 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day. Be sure to register in advance.
