According to a WM spokesperson, it is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for all of the WB’s employees and customers.
Meanwhile, Brian Bauman, WM’s vice president of business development termed the deal as a perfect fit. WB’s commercial and industrial business, along with its network of transfer stations in the D.C. region will complement WM’s current footprint. Moreover, the acquired assets are expected to connect well with the company’s Virginia-based landfills, Bauman added.
The company had made huge investments in M&A acquisitions during the previous year, with the highlight being the purchase of Stericycle. The spending has been minimal during the initial quarter of the year. WM recently said that it plans to spend approximately $500 million on deals this year.
