The residents of Union County can drop off clean, dry plastic film through drop-off locations. Only flexible plastic film may be recycled through this program. The program will not accept clamshells, casings, containers or other hard plastic items. The accepted items include produce bags, store bags, ice bags, Ziploc and other re-closable bags, cereal box liners, case overwrap, bread bags, newspaper sleeves, bubble wrap, and plastic e-commerce mailers.

The plastic film material collected through the program will be consolidated by Direct Waste and shipped to Trex Company, Inc., which in turn will use these in manufacturing composite decking and other outdoor living products.

Union County Commissioner Chair Rebecca L. Williams urged everyone in the participating municipalities to join the program.
