Statesboro Broke Ground on Plastic Recycling Plant

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Germany-headquartered revalue Resources broke ground on its new plastic recycling facility in the U.S. The site is located south of Statesboro off Highway 301.

The construction of the plant is expected to be completed by third quarter 2025. Upon completion, the facility will employ 71 people in the first phase and additional 50 people in the second phase, thus providing total 212 jobs.

The advanced PET recycling facility is located at Gateway Regional Park in Statesboro, GA. The plant is being built at an investment of $200 million and will be capable of recycling 200 million pounds of post-consumer PET plastic every year. The plant will process used plastics into pellets, which in turn can be used to manufacture new products.

The plant features state-of-the-art technologies which consume significantly less power and water. The pollution levels too are comparatively lesser when matched with traditional plastic manufacturing methods. It uses a unique recycling process based on glycolysis.

According to Jan van Kisfeld, Managing Director of revalyu, the first plant in the U.S. marks an important step in its expansion plans. It will serve its customers directly from the U.S. The opening of the facility ensures quicker transportation time, lower cost and lesser carbon footprint, he added.
