Safely Shred and Recycling Event Touted as Huge Success


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Safely Shred and Recycling event in Paradise Valley, held at the Town Municipal Complex on Saturday, November 18, has been touted as huge success, both in terms of donations as well as recycling volumes. The event was sponsored by Mike Cummiskey, owner of Paradise Valley Wealth Management and was held in association with the Paradise Valley Police Department.

A total of 13,000 pounds of documents were shredded on-site. This was significantly higher by 30% when compared with the shredded volumes during the previous year’s event. The donations to PVPD charities in support of Special Olympics and Sirens and Sleighbells’ efforts to help underprivileged children touched a new record of $4,889, stated Jimmy Phan, Community Resource Officer.

Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology (AZStRUT), which collected recyclable electronics on site, recorded collection of record 3,214 pounds of electronics for recycling, which comprised of 16 desktop computers, 32 laptop computers and 61 mobile devices.

The event reported a total of 139 attendees.

Another shredding event is being planned for the spring of 2024.
