Residents of Pennsylvania's 83rd Legislative District can recycle a wide range of unwanted electronics in Williamsport, with many devices accepted free and fees applying to televisions, monitors and select equipment.

MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Residents of Pennsylvania's 83rd Legislative District will have an opportunity to dispose of unwanted electronics during a community e-recycling event scheduled for Saturday, October 3.

State Rep. Jamie Flick and Berwick-based electronics recycling company Mamoth are organizing the event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Flick's Legislative District Office at 1000 Commerce Park Drive in Williamsport.

Many Electronics Will Be Accepted Free of Charge

The collection will accept a range of electronics at no charge, including computers, smartphones, tablets, modems, routers, cameras, appliances, video game consoles, memory cards, power tools, wires, chargers and hard drives.

Fees Apply to TVs, Monitors and Select Equipment

Other electronic items will be accepted for a fee. Printers will cost $5 to recycle. A $10 charge applies to CDs, DVDs, floppy disks, LCD monitors and USB thumb drives, while CRT monitors and floor copiers will cost $20.

Air-conditioning units, console stereos and workout equipment will cost $30. Televisions under 42 inches will carry a $35 recycling fee, while televisions larger than 42 inches will cost $50.

No Appointment Required

Flick said the initiative is intended to make electronics disposal more convenient for residents while providing a safe and secure way to clear unwanted equipment from homes and offices.

Residents do not need to schedule an appointment before attending. Eligible electronics can be brought directly to the collection location during the scheduled event hours.
