Recycling changes to be made in Jersey Shore

RecyclingMonster - Lycoming County Resource Management Services will be making site improvements to the recycling drop off containers at the Jersey Shore Borough recycling site on North Pennsylvania Avenue in Jersey Shore.

The intent of these improvements is to help eliminate unwanted waste and plastic bags, and to maximize recyclable volumes.

Changes may start as early as March 23 and include limiting the glass openings to ensure only glass bottles and jars are deposited. Bagged or boxed bottles are not acceptable; only deposit the glass bottles or jars.

Other non-acceptable items are plate glass, windowpanes and ceramics.

Changes also include installation of bars across the cardboard containers openings to ensure boxes are broken down and to eliminate waste. Broken down boxes allows for more room in the container and will help cut down on transportation.

These changes should ultimately help eliminate the contamination and maximize the recycling volumes.

Bagged recyclables, unbroken down boxes, or garbage at the drop-off sites are prohibited.

Over the next couple of years, other county recycling sites in Lycoming County will be updated with these improvements.
